Dr. Thomas Glass Hopkins, MD PhD, is Vice President and Head of ExploR&D at Eli Lilly, where he leads a rapidly expanding R&D organization pioneering a new model to accelerate biotech innovation through strategic partnerships. With over 15 years of experience spanning clinical medicine, academia, and industry, he has consistently championed the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and approaches in translational R&D. At GSK and Eli Lilly, he delivered high-impact programs in gene therapy, DNA editing, and RNA-based therapeutics, advancing assets from discovery through Phase 3. He earned his PhD in cancer biology from Imperial College London, following academic training at the University of Cambridge. His contributions have been recognized with the Royal Society of Medicine’s Sylvia Lawler Prize and the British Oncological Association’s Young Investigator of the Year.
